I like it, you're pretty decent keep making stuff it's rewarding! My advice, try to add more variation it's a very useful habit to get into. I don't know what you're using but in most software automation to the volume of each instrument is very easy to add and you can also automate frequencies if you use an equalizer or heck automate delay in and out of certain instruments and all these things will give your tracks sooo much more depth and impress the listener. But yea, experiment, I like what youre doing

MBRozi responds:

I surprisingly use Fruity Loops Studio 12, and I've only fiddled around with it for only a month or so, and I used to do my music on GarageBand (every song before Prism).
Yeah, strongly agreeing - I need to use much more variation. I'm not very creative that way, heh heh. :3

Relaxing

This song is very nice and relaxing; the chord progressions fit the beat perfectly. I will subtract one star point due to the fact that the saxophone needs some polishing up. Other than that this is really good.

Decibel7 responds:

Thanks! And yes, the saxophone is one thing I'm aware of. Probably going to get to that some time this week.

Dayum

I think this is definitely one of your best songs. The bass and the drums are unique sounding and blend together to form a seamless harmony. The breakdown at 1:10 provides a perfect transition into the new part with the epic sounding pitch bend. It then seamlessly moves back into the original part. Not much I can suggest other than spicing up the repeating original part a bit. I suggest you expand out into non 8bit sounds, it would do great things to the sound of this.

Decibel7 responds:

Wow much thanks! I am trying to get out of my 8-bit habits (it's just so much EASIER to mix 8-bit!) and back into the more realistic/synth worlds. I'm really glad you liked!

11 out of 10

I'd give you more than a ten if that was possible! I was blown away by this. You truly captured the essence of the emotion you were trying to precipitate. What did you use to make this? I use FL studio myself, and I would highly recommend. Keep up the good work!

SSJDre responds:

I'm working with FL Studio now, the program I used for this I stopped using. Thanks for the complement though. This song will forever be the last creation I have under that other program.

Great piano

I really enjoyed the melody you've got here. My only piece of advice is to improve the drums. The beat you have is really generic, and I feel like the complexity of the piano part deserves a more thoughtful drumbeat. Also, I would recommend using a more sophisticated drum VST. You can find plenty of free drum VSTs on the interwebs. But overall great job, just trying to provide some useful (hopefully) advice.

Also, I just made a new song... if you have a moment I would be very appreciative if you could lend some advice of your own. If you have a moment, a review would be very helpful. Thanks! :D

Repost responds:

Thanks. I'll check your song out.

My main focus was on the piano. The beat, otherwise vestigial, was just for keeping some random pattern in check or something. Blah.

Thanks for the review.

:: I added a bit more, give it another listen and let me know what you think.

Not bad

This song was a good listen for sure. I really like your drums. I also really like the part that starts at about 1:24. It really flows well together. My only suggestion is to try to vary your patterns so that it isn't as repetitive. Also, try using effects and/or automation. But beyond that I need to say great job! This was very well done, and I hope you keep up the good work.

Also, if you have a moment, I would really appreciate your input on my latest song. I would be much obliged. :)

SSJDre responds:

Thanks, I'm still learning a lot, so it's hard to get away from a part once I get it going, especially if it sounds nice. I'm trying to figure out how to transition, I know I did good with this song, but some of my other ones haven't actually gone as well. Effects are a bit more difficult to use for me, or maybe there is something that I'm just not noticing that would make it easier for me to use them. I did actually change the drums ever so slightly, I'm not sure if you noticed it or not, but if you pay close attention, there is a change. I'm not exactly even sure what automation is, but I'm pretty sure it's something I need to know. I'll gladly check out your stuff though, it's the least I could do since you've been such a great help to me, thanks, and I'll go listen asap.

Expand it!

The atmosphere is very dark and ambient. I like this, and it is well made. I also think that you could expand it and make it even better. What you have here is an excellent start and it makes for a great loop. It could, however make for a fantastic full length song. I can't find any faults with it other than the length, so great job!

Also, I like to review on a review for review basis, so if you could check out our newest song that would be great!

nightsurfermusic responds:

Heheh sure! There are some things that I might need to change just for this loop. But I might expand it and/or make other loops similar in the next few weeks. :)

Twisted is an understatement

The most horrifying collage of Beatle's noise known to man. Congrats?

DualityGod responds:

Thanks. My job here is done!

Great mix

Imma give you a high rating although my opinion may be biased since I love the original, BUT this is a really good mix. This is a really interesting remix, and I think you did do a great job even with only using the original recordings. So overall this is very well done.

What I might suggest is if you get the chance, play with effects such as reverb, delay, stutter effect... anything really to get a new sound. Also try chopping the samples up and see what you can do with it. You can even add your own instrumentation. As a remixer, don't be afraid to try things. But that's just a suggestion. Even if nothing comes of that, at least you learn music in the mean time.

One more thing: If you have time I would appreciate it if you could listen to my newest song and lend me some advice/feedback/opinions.

Thanks!

RyeGuyHead responds:

I did add fx and chop up the drums a bit.

wish i could work on this longer...

Excellent

I really love the chord progression. The melodies are really deep and trance-y. I really like the instrumentation, and whatever effect you used on the piano and bass synth. The only thing that bothers me, and it bothers me quite a bit, is the drums. Not the pattern, but the samples you used. In my opinion, you should download a free drum vst with better samples than the one you are using. It would really add to your song.

Also, if you have a moment, I like to review for review, so please check out my new song and let me know what you think if you get a chance.

Thanks, and good luck!

IamMortal responds:

Thank you for the review. I agree, I could of spent more time on the drum selection, but Im working with the demo version of FL Studio, so my options are limited to my mixing skills. Im happy you like the melodies tho. Thats mostly what I focused on this time.
