Some of the better dance ive heard on NG

Very well done.

I must agree, basic trite chord progressions usually lead to bland and overdone music, but you seem to have gotten away with it hear xD. This is so well produced, I can't say I have any criticisms. A lot of it is reminiscent of Daft Punk, or at least that's what I'm hearing. In any case great work, I did enjoy the listen.

Also, if you don't mind, could you take a listen of my newest song, I need input from people who know what they're doing. Thanks!

vaib responds:

word, brothuh! haha thanks. and thanks. and yeah i love daft punk, and i sampled much like they do, or as far as i know they do.

and sure dude, i'll go give your stuff a listen right now.

Minimalist

This doesn't seem to be ambient as much as minimalist, where notes are used sparingly and really only used to create an atmosphere. It's interesting, and it could go in the background to a movie or a game to create an eerie feeling. It is pretty neat though, maybe you could expand it.

Thanks and if you could review my newest song that would be great

WizMystery responds:

Ambient was closest to atmospheric so I considered it so in NG terms.

It's meant for a period of rest in a video game. The strange thing about making this was that I kept wanting to move parts around, or eliminate some. I'm thinking it needs a lot more planning, but this is what I've been able to come up with today (like I said, I mostly uploaded it to test the reactions of how well each effect fits together).

I'll gladly review your newest song!

Room for improvement

Repetitiveness works in ambient music, but only when done right. It has to be the kind of loop that puts you in a trance like state, but still changes enough to keep the listener interested.

This needs work, first off try experimenting with these free VSTs
-DSK Oranze
-DSK Keys
-Taurus
-FL Studio's TS404, you need to change it more, and add reverb! Don't be afraid to experiment
-ME80, it's not free, but it can be found... around
Try those, experiment, find new ones for yourself.

Always mess with reverb when making an ambient song, always! Delay can't hurt either, just mess with them until they sound neat. Don't overdo it, but don't underdo it.

Anyway I like to review on a review for review basis, so it would be really cool if you could review our newest song. :)

Thanks and good luck

superpokemonray responds:

Lol, ok! sorry for late reaction! ill go check your song from 31 july XD

I always type that for sure because if i upload something without being aware that it might be repetitive, I get only reaction with: "Repetitive"...... so yeah

and thanks for tips!!

Calm

Very nice, tranquil song. Everything flows well, and the drums enhance it as they should. Great production, the piano sounds fantastic, if you don't mind me asking, what VSTs did you use?

Looking forward to more stuff by you, and if you don't mind could you check out some of my stuff?

yotipo91 responds:

Sytrus and Nexus, and sure I'll give your stuff a listen :D

Great

Very peaceful and calming, with frantic yet mood setting drums. I voted a 5, but I only gave 8 because I want you to make an entire song out of it.

wish granted!

Needs work

The last note of your piano loop is a bit flat. Also, I would recommend trying out new instruments, mess around with Dr. Fuzion for your drums, it's a great VST. Replace the annoying synth that comes in halfway through with something like DSK Oranze.

superuberinsaneausm responds:

i added the flat note 4 style, thanks for the vst recommendations ill check those out

Too experimental?

Well, I applaud you for trying stuff out, but there seems to be no song structure. It's random, all over the place, difficult to listen to, and it needs a strong lead instrument/melody. This seems like something someone would make to get the hang of effects and such then apply to a better structured song. Not saying it's bad, just needs structure.
6/10 3/5

Dj-PinkWalrus responds:

You know, I'm honestly not surprised by the response this song has received on this site. I think you guys would be surprised to see the amount of successful artists out there with music that's just as experimental, just as atonal, and with the same degree of song structure. Listen to some break core or gabber, at some point, and tell me what you think.

Interesting

Neat song, not really industrial, industrial usually has more distortion, is darker, and just sounds industrial. However, what you have hear is great too! I really enjoyed the drums at around 1:40, good job on those alone. All and all, the melody is decent, it has a nice amount of experimentation, and I can't really take off for anything. So.... 9/10 5/5, feel free to check out some of our stuff ;)

Chozz responds:

Will check your stuff out. Thanks for the feedback, if you could PM what genre you would labe this as? Ive changed it to MISC at the moment.

Great start

The kind of music you are composing, well it takes actual musical knowledge. Each part is very complex, and it all fits together nicely, great job on this! Now, it can be filled out, add more instruments, more length, and more verses. Good job so far, 8/10 5/5 (I hate voting down)

sarias responds:

unfortunately it had to be this length we only had 30 measures to do this. I have actually considered lengthening a lot of my pieces for this class though. thanks for the review though i'm glad you liked it

Very neat

Not a very big techno fan here, but I thought this song had a unique feel to it. The drums were complex, interesting, and always changing. The beginning feels kind of empty, and with how long it is this can be rather repetitive. Other than that, great job! 5/5 9/10

Genshiken responds:

Ok thanks for the response! Glad you liked the song. You've got some great music yourself.
