I like it, you're pretty decent keep making stuff it's rewarding! My advice, try to add more variation it's a very useful habit to get into. I don't know what you're using but in most software automation to the volume of each instrument is very easy to add and you can also automate frequencies if you use an equalizer or heck automate delay in and out of certain instruments and all these things will give your tracks sooo much more depth and impress the listener. But yea, experiment, I like what youre doing

I surprisingly use Fruity Loops Studio 12, and I've only fiddled around with it for only a month or so, and I used to do my music on GarageBand (every song before Prism).
Yeah, strongly agreeing - I need to use much more variation. I'm not very creative that way, heh heh. :3

Liking the sound of this from the start, it has a nice atmosphere. Everything seems well mixed and balanced. Liking the percussion and snaps, gotta love the nice click snaps give. Nice transition at 2:20. Not much I can say other then maybe shake things up a bit more, have a more complicated lead. This is a great start though, I dig it.

Relaxing

This song is very nice and relaxing; the chord progressions fit the beat perfectly. I will subtract one star point due to the fact that the saxophone needs some polishing up. Other than that this is really good.

Decibel7 responds:

Thanks! And yes, the saxophone is one thing I'm aware of. Probably going to get to that some time this week.

Dayum

I think this is definitely one of your best songs. The bass and the drums are unique sounding and blend together to form a seamless harmony. The breakdown at 1:10 provides a perfect transition into the new part with the epic sounding pitch bend. It then seamlessly moves back into the original part. Not much I can suggest other than spicing up the repeating original part a bit. I suggest you expand out into non 8bit sounds, it would do great things to the sound of this.

Decibel7 responds:

Wow much thanks! I am trying to get out of my 8-bit habits (it's just so much EASIER to mix 8-bit!) and back into the more realistic/synth worlds. I'm really glad you liked!

Sampling

Great use of sampling. The drums you made and the sample fit together surprising well to give the song a unique feel. You should definitely try extending it into a full song somehow!

11 out of 10

I'd give you more than a ten if that was possible! I was blown away by this. You truly captured the essence of the emotion you were trying to precipitate. What did you use to make this? I use FL studio myself, and I would highly recommend. Keep up the good work!

SSJDre responds:

I'm working with FL Studio now, the program I used for this I stopped using. Thanks for the complement though. This song will forever be the last creation I have under that other program.

Way better!

This is quite a bit better than your other song, the synth and the drums combine really well. I do think the same problem persists, which is that it can become a bit repetitive after awhile. Some variation would fix it and make it a 10!

Also, if you could review our newest song that would be great!

Nice little melody

I like! It was a little too repetitive for my taste BUT I really liked that ambient atmosphere you created. This song was very soothing and calming. I really enjoyed my listen.

My recommendation is layering. I think this song could be developed further by adding more layers- perhaps some bass synth, and/or some strings, and/or some counter melody synths could really spice things up. But I do realize that you were going for simple so maybe that would take away from that. Just a thought.

One more thing- I need help with my latest submission, if you have time... could you please shoot me a review? It would be very helpful! :)

Great piano

I really enjoyed the melody you've got here. My only piece of advice is to improve the drums. The beat you have is really generic, and I feel like the complexity of the piano part deserves a more thoughtful drumbeat. Also, I would recommend using a more sophisticated drum VST. You can find plenty of free drum VSTs on the interwebs. But overall great job, just trying to provide some useful (hopefully) advice.

Also, I just made a new song... if you have a moment I would be very appreciative if you could lend some advice of your own. If you have a moment, a review would be very helpful. Thanks! :D

Repost responds:

Thanks. I'll check your song out.

My main focus was on the piano. The beat, otherwise vestigial, was just for keeping some random pattern in check or something. Blah.

Thanks for the review.

:: I added a bit more, give it another listen and let me know what you think.

Not bad

This song was a good listen for sure. I really like your drums. I also really like the part that starts at about 1:24. It really flows well together. My only suggestion is to try to vary your patterns so that it isn't as repetitive. Also, try using effects and/or automation. But beyond that I need to say great job! This was very well done, and I hope you keep up the good work.

Also, if you have a moment, I would really appreciate your input on my latest song. I would be much obliged. :)

SSJDre responds:

Thanks, I'm still learning a lot, so it's hard to get away from a part once I get it going, especially if it sounds nice. I'm trying to figure out how to transition, I know I did good with this song, but some of my other ones haven't actually gone as well. Effects are a bit more difficult to use for me, or maybe there is something that I'm just not noticing that would make it easier for me to use them. I did actually change the drums ever so slightly, I'm not sure if you noticed it or not, but if you pay close attention, there is a change. I'm not exactly even sure what automation is, but I'm pretty sure it's something I need to know. I'll gladly check out your stuff though, it's the least I could do since you've been such a great help to me, thanks, and I'll go listen asap.
